The Witch on West Olde St.

I have invoked a more natural spirituality. During the most recent eclipse, I washed my hands with salt and whispered all of my troubles so they may be released with the salt through my fingertips. I have planted a butterfly garden on Eostre to honor the renewal, fertility, and rebirth of the land into spring. I strongly identify with these values. They speak to me and I feel that I understand them. I charged crystals in the moonlight of the lunar eclipse, whispering all that I hope to accomplish during the great celestial event of change.

Speaking of Eostre, a pagan holiday, that takes place on the very same day of Easter every year. Both holidays correlate with the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Shouldn’t a holiday celebrating the rebirth of Christ be on a set day? No, because that would interfere with the indoctrination of Christian beliefs into pagan holidays. Very interesting indeed that Easter follows the moon cycle, just as Eostre (for which one could argue Easter bearing a similar name to the ancient holiday). Colorful eggs, rabbits, and chicks are also symbols of the pagan welcoming of spring and new life on this day.

But I digress. I also ventured into the forest that lays on a flood plain. The river is to the east and made for the ideal conditions for morel mushrooms to grow.

And grow they did!

I traversed the forest on the Eostre day and was rewarded with a precisely-timed bounty of spring. Though especially early in the morel season, so is Eostre this year. It was also perfectly timed before today’s cold snap.

I burned one outdoors to thank nature for her bounty.

In the spirit of the coming solar eclipse, and being in the line of totality in my self-proclaimed witch’s hut, I will be manifesting changes that lead me towards success in the coming year ahead. I will be undergoing an immense career change, studying for and taking a difficult exam, and navigating a nomad’s life. I need all of the positive energy that I can get.

Invoking my yule fortune, I believe that this year will be one of calm and peace. I will take control of my future with an effortless grace crafted by experience, knowledge, and dedicated preparation. I will flourish, both in my relationships and career.

The witch on West Olde St. has big and exciting things coming her way.
