Empire of Storms

"The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as the war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves increasingly at odds with those who don’t. With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save. Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, dark forces stand poised to claim her world. The only chance of salvation lies in a desperate quest that may take more from Aelin than she has to give, a quest that forces her to choose what-and who-she’s willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace.”

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas is a rollercoaster of emotions, battles, and drama. There is not a free second in this novel. The tides of this war seem to change and change and change; advantages cleverly gained and lost. There are more perspectives than ever in this one, and I am reminded that these books are meant to be all-consuming. I had to take a break to read a different book, and it was a slow journey to immerse myself back into the all-consuming world that is the Throne of Glass series. These books demand attention and immersion. They are magnificent and cleverly written, this one was just the most whirlwinded one yet. I cannot wait to read what Chaol has been up to during this time in Tower of Dawn and then read the epic conclusion to the series. I love these intricate, colorful worlds that Maas creates. Excited to start the next :)
